Beginner Herbalism Classes


 

Herb Infused Massage Oil Saturday October 27th at 2PM

Learn to make massage oils that are infused with herbs that nourish the skin, soothe aches & pains and assist in healing musculature injuries. We will discuss a number of plants that have specific healing qualities beneficial to the massage therapist and client. Class will be about an hour long, $25, and includes a 1 ounce bottle of infused oil.

 

Osha Honey & Elixirs Saturday November 3rd at 2PM

Discover bear medicine, and meet a most powerful and elusive native plant, Osha, it can be made into a yummy medicine that is good for lower respiratory issues, lung congestion and sore throats especially at the onset of the cold and flu. Be respectful, this plant only grows in a few certain areas, and our mountains happen to host her in abundance, over-harvesting is a threat. Class will be about an hour long, $25, and includes a 1 ounce bottle of elixir.

 

Cold & Flu Remedies Saturday December 15th at 2PM

Learn how to take care of “yourself” (and others) this cold and flu season, take home the knowledge you'll need to create your own herbal remedies as well as immune boosting tips and recipes. Class will be about an hour long, $25, and includes a 1 ounce bag of tea.

 

Organic SPF Lip Balm Saturday January 19th at 2PM

Take care of your lips this season, and learn to make an easy batch of lip balm that will heal cracked lips while protecting against the UV rays of the sun. Class will be about an hour long, $15, and includes a tube of lip balm.

 

Organic Sunscreen Saturday February 23rd at 2PM

Some sunscreens do more harm than good, see for yourself how easy it is to whip up a batch to last you and your friends the rest of the season. For the sake of your skin, we will be using only organic ingredients and natural minerals. Class will be about an hour long, $25, and includes a 1 ounce tin of sunscreen.


Poplar for Pain Relief Saturday March 30th at 2PM

Discover the healing properties of our Poplar trees and learn how to make an oil, salve and tincture from the leaf buds of these abundant trees. The buds of Cottonwoods and Aspens hold properties which are good for pain relief, respiratory infections and sore throats. Class will be about an hour long, $25, and includes ½ ounce tin of Balm of Gilead, and ½ ounce tincture.

 

Ouchie Ointment Saturday April 20th at 2PM

 Discover three native medicinal plants, Oregon Grape, Usnea lichen, and Cottonwood. These three powerful plants will be our main ingredients to the salve we will make. This class will teach you how to make your own antibacterial & pain relieving salve as a replacement for commercial ointments. Class will be about an hour long, $25, and includes a 1 ounce tin of ointment.


Dandy Day with Dandelions Saturday May 25th at 2PM

An introduction to using local plants as food and medicine. This class will discuss the nutritive properties of one our most beloved weeds, Taraxacum officinale. During this class you will learn how to make Dandelion oil which is good for sore/achey muscles, swollen/congested glands, and other skin ailments. Class will be about an hour long, $25, and includes a 1 ounce bottle of Dandelion oil.
